Checkmate: This Is War by Kennedy Fox is a cliff-hanger. Not a little cliff-hanger...a big fat cliff-hanger. The kind that's unexpected and makes you want to throw your kindle against the wall. Yeah, I'm not a fan of cliff-hangers. This book is written in alternating point of view format, of which I also am not a fan. Can't have everything though, so on with the review. Travis is, sorry, no other way to describe him than to say he's a manwhore. Viola is his best friend's little sister. Their story is a love/hate relationship on steroids. There is plenty of drama but my favorite part of the book is the humor. Kudos to Ms. Fox on the humor. This story is a little angsty for my taste, but honestly, I'm old, so you should probably just ignore that. If you like lots of sex in your books, this will be right up your alley, I thought my kindle was going to melt a couple times. I know this sounds like a negative review, but really, I enjoyed reading it...until I got to the cliff-hanger.
